Controller Trigger Test
Observe LT and RT trigger values exposed by your browser. Press each trigger fully, release it and compare its minimum and maximum readings.
Press and release both triggers
Connect a controller. Leave both triggers untouched, then press each one fully several times and release.
Connect a controller and press a button or move a stick.
Standard gamepad trigger mapping is identified automatically. Other mappings require you to choose the trigger buttons.
Observed minimum / maximum: --
Endpoint range not observed yet.
Observed minimum / maximum: --
Endpoint range not observed yet.
What this means: trigger values are exposed by the Gamepad API. Driver, firmware, controller mapping and browser behavior can affect the observed range.
Guided range check
- Leave both triggers untouched.
- Press LT and RT fully several times.
- Release each trigger fully and review the observed ranges.
Values near 0% and 100% count as approximate endpoints. Exact floating-point endpoints are not required.
Review the range exposed to the browser
Standard gamepad mappings expose analog trigger values through button entries. The browser reports a number from 0 to 1, which this page shows as a percentage. For an unknown mapping, choose the button entries corresponding to your triggers.
The minimum and maximum are collected from the time this page observes the controller, until reset. A trigger that does not approach an endpoint during this test may simply need a different mapping or setup.
Controller trigger FAQ
Does the test work with every controller?
It works with gamepads exposed through the browser Gamepad API. Controller, driver and browser mappings vary, and some devices may not expose analog trigger values.
What does “approximately full press” mean?
The test treats values at or above 95% as near the upper endpoint and values at or below 5% as near release. These tolerances avoid requiring exact floating-point 0 and 1.
Why are LT and RT not mapped automatically?
Automatic labels are used only for the standard gamepad mapping. For unknown mappings, choose the button entries yourself so the page does not guess which inputs are triggers.
